- Inside the Statehouse Introduction Week 1
Friday, January 5, 2018
Welcome to the 2018 legislative session! Inside the Statehouse is Indiana Institute for Working Families’ weekly blog
series on legislative action in the Indiana General Assembly.
The Institutes aim is to provide readers with an analysis of
legislation in Indiana that may positively or negatively affect Hoosier working families. The Institute’s 2018 Policy Agenda focuses on ways to #RightTheShip for 1 in 3 Hoosiers who are left underwater economically by: Removing Anchors, Ensuring Life Preservers,
and Providing the Propeller to steer
Hoosiers toward economic security and broad prosperity. These priorities will navigate us
through the 2018 session.
Indiana Institute for Working Families 2018 Policy Agenda |
Each week, Inside the Statehouse blog series will summarize the previous week’s legislative actions and preview
what is expected to happen in the coming week. Action Alerts will be sent out if a
crucial vote is scheduled for a bill that the Institute supports or opposes.
These alerts will inform you of the bill number, its consequences or possibilities,
and the action you can take. Your voice matters and we need your help. Please
take a moment sign up to receive updates in your
inbox.
In addition
to our policy agenda the Institute for Working Families continues to monitor
and work on legislation affecting Hoosier families including but not limited to:
·
state budget and tax policy
·
adult education and workforce development
· strong social safety nets
·
asset development and consumer protections
·
early education and childcare
· job quality including paid leave
·
family-sustaining wages
We need to
hear from you on these issues. Please let us know which issues matter most to
you. Do you have stories of how current policy is helping or hurting Hoosier
working families? Is there a policy that has affected your life? Let us know in
the comments or send an e-mail to iiwf@incap.org.
